23rd International Moth Rally - Woburn Abbey, Bedfordshire
16/17th August 2003
Review - The picturesque surroundings of Woburn abbey played host to the
de Havilland Moth Club’s 23rd International Moth Rally, held on the
weekend of 16th-17th August, which for 2003, celebrated
the centenary of the birth of Amy Johnson. At 27 years old, and with 100 hours
flying time to her credit, Amy became the first woman to fly solo from England
to Australia in her DH60 Gipsy Moth G-AAAH ‘Jason’. A plethora of superb
‘Mothery’ was in attendance, a grand total of 99 aircraft appearing on the
Sunday.
Highlights included the first public outing since restoration for the Norman
Aeroplane Trust's immaculate D.H.84 Dragon G-ECAN.
